Explore the Iconic Scenery of Thailand’s Tropical South

Krabi is one of Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations, and it is easy to understand why. This exotic coastal province, which faces Phuket across Phang Nga Bay, is home to many of Thailand’s most iconic attractions, including Maya Bay (aka “The Beach”) and Railay Bay.

The majority of visitors arrive at Krabi International Airport and the main resort area on the mainland is Ao Nang, which has developed into a bustling seaside town and tourist port. World-class international hotel brands, including Sofitel and Ritz-Carlton, can also be found along the beaches of Khlong Muang and Tubkaek.

Krabi comes alive however, when you explore the province by sea. Railay Bay, which is mainly accessible by boat, is an exquisite stretch of pure white sand set against the dramatic backdrop of steep limestone cliffs, which are popular with daring climbers. Further south, Koh Lanta is peaceful resort island with a long sandy coast.

Another of the jewels in Krabi’s tourism crown is Phi Phi – a pair of idyllic islands that allow visitors to live out their tropical island fantasies. The larger Koh Phi Phi Don can get busy, but cars are banned and it is easy to discover secluded sandy bays away from the main tourist area. The smaller Koh Phi Phi Leh meanwhile, is so beautiful that it was used as the setting for the 1999 movie “The Beach”, starring Leonardo di Caprio. Maya Bay, which was showcased in the film, is almost entirely enclosed by towering cliffs to create an enchanting aquamarine lagoon.

Krabi’s warm climate and sheltered seas have created a series of breath-taking natural wonders that are more beautiful than any movie set. This perfect province should be on every traveller’s bucket list.
